PASL Wraps Up 19th Season This Weekend with Winter Nationals
The Premier Arena Soccer League caps its 19th season this weekend when 11 teams convene for Winter Nationals at the Arizona Sports Complex in Glendale, Arizona.
The teams will be split into three groups. Austin FC, Rocky Mountain Bighorns and the host Arizona Impact will compete in Group A. The Tulsa Tornadoes, Mustangs Premier, and Western Indoor Soccer League champion Bellingham United make up Group B. The Indiana Lions, Colorado Blizzard, Barilleros FC, and local teams Digitlog FC and Phoenix Falcons form Group C.
Bellingham has won the last two WISL titles and have appeared in all three league finals in the nascent northwestern league.
Mustangs Premier, the PASL affiliate of the MASL’s Chicago Mustangs, won this tournament in 2013/14 when both the Mustangs and Mustangs Premier claimed their respective league titles following undefeated regular seasons.
Expansion teams Tulsa, Barilleros, and Digitlog have advanced to Nationals in their inaugural seasons. Rocky Mountain and Phoenix are making their first appearance in the clubs’ fourth seasons.
Arizona is making their first Winter Nationals appearance after losing in the semifinals of the 2014 Summer Nationals. Austin makes their first appearance since 2015. Indiana is making their first appearance since 2014. Colorado is the only returning team from last year’s Nationals and have appeared in six straight postseason tournaments.
